Dr. Tang Ning
Senior Lecturer in Sociology, Sheffield Hallam University, UK
Tang earned her Bachelor's degree in English Education from Yangzhou Teachers College (now part of Yangzhou University) in 1980, and started her career as a faculty member in the Department of Foreign Languages at the same university.
Tang has a cross cultural and interdisciplinary academic background. After completing a MA study in the University of Leicester and her PhD project on academic work and motherhood in China and the UK in the University of Aberdeen, she started a Postdoctoral Research Fellow job in the University of Hertfordshire working on an EU project 'Household, Work and Flexibility', which was a comparative study of 8 European countries. Her research career continued when she moved to Sheffield Hallam University in 2004 working on research projects of gender and labour markets in English local authorities. Prior to the start of her academic post in sociology, Tang was a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Education and Inclusion Research and co/directed a number of research projects in the areas of trans-national education and international student mobility commissioned by external funding sources. Dr Tang has been a researcher as well as a practitioner in internationalisation of higher education since 2006.
