On November 16, the research team of Professor Chen Chen from Yangzhou University published a research paper entitled Maternally expressed OsFERTILIZATION-INDEPENDENT ENDOSPERM1 regulates seed dormancy and aleurone development in rice in The Plant Cell. This study reveals a new mechanism by which the epigenetic regulator OsFIE1 in rice regulates seed dormancy and aleurone layer development by inhibiting the biosynthesis of plant hormone gibberellin ( GA ) through histone H3K27me3 modification.
