On November 28, 2023, a paper entitled "Asingle-nucleotide substitution in the Leucine-Rich-Repeat-only gene CsLRR1 confers powdery mildew resistance in cucumber" was published online inPlant Communications(CAS Top 1, IF=10.5). This paper is the research finding under the cooperation of the cucumber genetic breeding and molecular biology innovation team of College of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture of Yangzhou University, Professor Sally A. Mackenzie of Pennsylvania State University, Researcher Shengli Du of Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Associate Professor Yuhui Wang of College of Horticulture of Nanjing Agricultural University.
This study first identified and reporteda new gene regulating powdery mildew resistance in cucumberand implemented researches onits function and regulatory mechanism. As such, this paperprovides excellent genetic resources for the future molecular genetic improvement of powdery mildew resistance in cucumber as well as the selection and breeding of new varieties.
