On May 8th, the group led by Professor Jiao Xinan published a paper entitled "SalmonellaEnteritidis T1SS protein SiiD inhibits NLRP3 inflammasome activation via repressing the mtROS-ASC dependent pathway" in PLoS Pathogens, which is an authoritative international journal of etiology. This study reveals the molecular mechanism of Salmonella enteritidis SiiD inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation and mediating host immune escape. It also provides new theories and ideas for the prevention and control of Salmonella enterica.
Human beings and animals can be infected with Salmonella enterica. Once infection occurs, Salmonella enterica will evade immunity through a variety of mechanisms. As such, it can lead to persistent infection of the host, which poses great challenges to the prevention and control of Salmonella. Against this backdrop, it is pressing to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of immune escape of Salmonella enterica.
