On October 24th, a paper titled GABA signaling enforces intestinal germinal center B cell differentiation was published in PNAS, which came out of joint efforts of Associate Prof. Liao Yuexia’s team from our School of Nursing (School of Public Health) and Prof. Ren Wenkai’s team from South China Agricultural University.
This paper reveals that γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) can be involved in the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy by regulating the differentiation of gut germinal center B (GCB) cells, developing the theory of immunometabolism, and also providing new paths for the research of IgA nephropathy pathogenesis. It was funded by National Key R&D Program of China and National Natural Science Foundation of China.
