President Liu Qiaoquan Leads Delegation on Exchange Visit to the United States

From December 13 to 17, President Liu Qiaoquan led a university delegation on an exchange visit to the United States, successively visiting Oklahoma State University, the University of Tulsa, and the University of California, Davis.

At Oklahoma State University, Liu Qiaoquan engaged in friendly discussions with Vice President and Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Jayson Lusk. Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on faculty and student exchanges in agriculturalsciencesand high-level research collaboration. Additionally, they exchanged views and reached consensus with officialsfrom InternationalOfficeon international student education, cooperative programs, and credit recognition. The delegation also toured the university’sinternationalexchangecenter, library, student learning center,wheatbreedingresearchcenter, and public experimental platforms.

At the University of Tulsa, focusing on international cooperation and exchange, student exchange programs, and talent cultivation, Liu Qiaoquan held in-depth discussions with President Rick Dickson, Provost Jennifer Airey, heads of relevant departments, and senior professors. He clearly expressed the intention to cooperate, and both parties agreed that a delegation from the University of Tulsa would visitYangzhou University in 2026, with plans formulated to advance substantive project collaboration.

At the University of California, Davis, Liu Qiaoquan expressed his hope to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation, expand the academic influence of both sides in the field of international collaboration, enhance the cultivation of global talent in agriculture and health, and achieve new and greater outcomes in discipline development and technological innovation. During the visit, Liu Qiaoquan met with Pamela Ronald, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and reached a consensus on deepening cooperation in the field of rice disease resistance. Both parties discussed joint student cultivation and technological innovation collaboration, reaching agreements and signing a joint student cultivation agreement.

During the visit, the delegation also engaged with alumni and researchers in the United States, including Li Yi, President of the North American Alumni Association and Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, to promote the university’s talent recruitment policies. They presented the“U.S. Alumni Home”flag and issued appointment letters to alumnus Yan Liuling, Regents Professor at Oklahoma State University. Additionally, they visited alumnus Professor Zhou Huaijun, recipient of the“Chancellor’s Award for Excellence”at the University of California, Davis.

Furthermore, the delegation visited the Jiangsu AssociationofCaliforniaUSA, where they held in-depth discussions with North American leaders of Jiangsu originon topics such as talent recruitment, research collaboration, and the promotion of Chinese cuisine. They signed a letter of intent for cooperation and issued appointment letters as“Overseas Promotion Ambassadors for the Overseas ChineseBenefitProject – Yangzhou University ChineseFoodProsperity Base”to Mr. Wu Youyi and Mr. Li Zhijian. They also granted three overseas Chinese enterprises the title of“Overseas Cultural Promotion Base for the Overseas ChineseBenefitProject – Yangzhou University ChineseFoodProsperity Base”and established the“Jiangsu AssociationandChamber of CommerceofCaliforniaUSA·Yangzhou University Alumni HomeinUSA”

This visit achieved a series of practical outcomes in advancing high-level research collaboration and international talent cultivation, jointly building research platforms, applying for cooperative projects, improving faculty and student exchange mechanisms, and promoting the development of the"Chinese Cuisine Prosperity Promotion Base".

The delegation included principal leaders from thePresidentOffice,International Office, College of Agriculture,Faculty ofMedicine,andCollege of Tourism and Cuisine.
