Ding Jianning, Secretary of the CPC Yangzhou University Committee,led a  delegation to Egypt and Morocco

From June 11 to 17, Ding Jianning, Secretary of the CPC Yangzhou University Committee,led adelegation on a visit to Egypt and Morocco. The delegation successively visited Zewail City of Science and Technology, New Cairo Technological University, the Agricultural Research Center of Egypt, FAMSUN Egypt Industrial Co., Ltd., Hassan II University of Casablanca, and Rabat National Higher School of Mines. The delegation also paid a courtesy call to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Egypt.

At Zewail City of Science and Technology, DingJianningheld cordial discussions with Executive President Prof. Salah Obayya. Both sides introduced their respective institutional profiles and disciplinary strengths, engaging in in-depthdiscussions on international studentexchange, scientific research cooperation &technology transfer, and cooperation within the World Canal Cities University Cooperation Consortium.As a result, aseries of cooperative consensuses were reached.After that, the delegation toureditsMaterials Science Research Center, Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research Center, and Bio-Sensing Laboratory.



AtNew Cairo Technological University,both sidesfocused on international cooperation and exchange, international studentenrollment, and talenttraining. President Prof. Tarek Abdel Malak MikhailintroducedNCTU’s history,development,anddistinctive strengths in fields including Mechatronic Engineering, Automation, Energy Engineering, and Information Engineering,sendinga clearmessage ofintent for cooperation.DingJianning alsoexpressedhope for enhanced cooperation in areas such as international student education and joint international research projects. Subsequently, DingJianningand Tarek Abdel Malak Mikhail signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for cooperation.



At the Agricultural Research Center of Egypt, bothsidesexpressed their willingness todeepencooperation of scientificresearchafter the basic introduction, discussions onapproved cooperative projectsand a meeting forthe Belt and Road Joint Laboratory,proposing initiatives like faculty and student exchanges to foster profound engagement across broader domains.During thisvisit, the delegation promoted China’s policies for attracting foreign experts and YZU’s recruitment policies for international postdoctoral researchers.In addition,they met with faculty and students from YZUcurrently engaged in academic exchanges at the ARC.After the meeting, YZUsigned an LOI with the ARC, and concurrently,Agriculture College ofYZUsigned an LOI with the ARC Field Crops Research Institute.



At FAMSUN Egypt Industrial Co., Ltd.,DingJianningemphasizedthatYZU’s comprehensive range of disciplinescouldassist overseas enterprises in localhuman resourcestrainingthroughYZU’s faculty expertise and training platformsagainst a backdrop of the Belt and Road, thereby enhancing enterprises’ competitiveness.DingJianningsincerely encouraged the Egyptian students present to play active roles within Chinese enterprises in Egypt and contribute to Egypt’s development.Afterthat, DingJianningand Wang Lin,General ManagerofFAMSUN Egypt Industrial Co., Ltd., jointly unveiled the plaque for the FAMSUN-Yangzhou University Overseas Student Internship and Practice Base.

At the Confucius Institute at Hassan II University of Casablanca, Ding introduced YZU’s history, disciplines, and international studentaffairs,especiallystudentsfromMorocco. He hopedthat strengthened exchanges and learning from the institute’s expertise in teaching Chinese as a foreign language would help scale up and elevate the quality of YZU’s own Chinese language programs for international learners.



AtRabat National Higher School of Mines,DingJianningintroducedYZU’s development and international cooperation efforts, especially itseffortsinthe field ofnew energy andthe establishment ofChina-AfricaConsortium ofUniversitiesExchange Mechanism. President Prof. Omar Oussouaddi extended a warm welcome to the delegation andthen introducedthehigherschool’s history and research focus. Heagreed that more efforts should be made inscientific research cooperation and international student education.Afterthat, aformal cooperation agreement was signed.



While in Egypt, the delegation visited Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Arab Republic ofEgypt. Minister-Counselor Lu Chunshengmet withthe delegation.Bothsides exchanged views on the application for China-Egypt Belt and Road laboratories, international student education, scientific research collaboration, and cultural exchanges. Minister-Counselor Lu Chunsheng expressed gratitude for YZU’s involvement and contributions to international cooperation, assuring that the Embassy would strongly support multifaceted exchanges and cooperationbetween universities&research institutes of both countries, thereby fostering friendly China-Egypt relations.DingJianningintroducedYZU’sdevelopment at first, and he believedthat cooperation could be continuously expanded in scope and enhanced in quality under the guidanceof theEmbassy.The delegation also participated in exchange activitieswithZewail City of Science and Technology and New Cairo Technological University.



The delegation also met with Xu Hui, a YZUalumnus serving at the FAO Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa, to discusstheestablishment ofEgypt Alumni Home. DingJianningpresented Xu Hui with a letter of appointment as the principal manager and the official flag of the Alumni Home.

During thisvisit, the delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with the visited universities, research institutions, and enterprises onstrengthening cooperative relationsin a comprehensive way around the topic ofthe Belt and Road Initiative. Exchanges were held on jointly applying for research projects, establishing joint laboratories, advancing theprogram ofChina-Africa Young Engineers Workshop, and enhancing faculty and student exchanges.Consensus was reached on cooperation modelinnovationandfurther cooperation. The delegationalsoextended invitations to the visited institutions to join the proposed Jiangsu-Africa High-Level Universities Alliance and the World Canal Cities University Cooperation Consortium.
