On May 20, the delegation led by Sílvia Inácio, Consul General of Portugal in Shanghai, visited Yangzhou University(YZU). Jiao Xin'an, Secretary of the CPC Yangzhou University Committee, met with the guests. Vice President Han Jie attended the event.
Jiao Xin'an first welcomed the guests and briefly introduced the university's history, disciplinary advantages as well as cooperation and exchanges with Portuguese universities and research institutions. He also pointed out that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Portuguese diplomatic relations, and YZU is looking forward to deepening the cooperation with Portuguese universities and scientific research institutions, and sharing the development opportunities.
Sílvia Inácio suggested the will to actively promote the two sides to carry out academic exchanges, personnel training, joint scientific research and other aspects of cooperation as the higher education cooperation of Sino-Portuguese confronts huge potential. Meanwhile, the two sides will strengthen the promotion of the Portuguese and Chinese language training, so as to inject new vitality into the bilateral cooperation.
During the visit, the delegation led by Sílvia Inácio participated in a series of activities of “Belt and Road” education as well as science and innovation cooperation mechanism, and delivered symposiums to nearly 200 faculties and students from 23 colleges of YZU.
Heads of Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Foreign Affairs Office of Yangzhou Municipal People's Government, as well as the CPC Committee Office, Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, Office of Humanities and Social Sciences Administration, International Office, Department of Student Affairs, Youth League Committee, College of International Studies, College of Veterinary Medicine and College for Overseas Education of YZU participated in the activity.
