On November 7th, the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress held an online meeting with the Jeollabuk-do Council of South Korea. Fan Jinlong, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress, and Gookjoo Yeongeun, Chairman of Jeollabuk-do Provincial Assembly, attended and addressed the event. Jiao Xin’an, Secretary of the CPC Yangzhou University Committee, was invited to speak at the meeting.
Professor Jiao Xin’an briefly introduced the latest development of YZU, as well as the progress made in intercollegiate relations, faculty-student exchanges, joint scientific research, and cultural exchanges with South Korean universities. He said that 30 years have passed since China and Korea established diplomatic ties. Both sides should take this event as an opportunity to enhance pragmatic cooperation through the friendly, cooperative relations between China and ROK, Jiangsu Province and Jeollabuk-do.
He suggested that routine collaboration mechanism for Jiangsu-ROK universities should be established, which allows us to move forward even faster via macro design, resource supply, organization and implementation. More efforts should be made to put international scientific research cooperation high on the agenda, stay focused on the global S&T frontiers, make full use of each other’s advantages, proactively build university-industry-research platform, and collaborate on core technologies and their transformation. Additionally, innovations must be highlighted in the area of joint training project in the hybrid modality for international student programs to advance the high-level Chinese-Foreign cooperative education among universities in Jiangsu and Jeollabuk-do.
