According to the latest data released by Essential Science Indicator (ESI) on March 14th, 2019, Computer Science of Yangzhou University entered into ESI Global Disciplines Ranking top 1%. So far, YZU has 7 ESI Top 1% disciplines, including Chemistry, Plant and Animal Science, Engineering, Agriculture Science, Clinical Medicine, Material Science, and Computer Science, ranking the 2nd in provincial universities, 5th in Jiangsu and 37th in China.

In the past few years, YZU has been keen on strengthening the top-level design in discipline construction with the implementation of subject connotation development strategy, highlighting the leading role of discipline construction. A series of supporting measures in refining faculty staff members, enhancing personnel training, promoting scientific research and international cooperation have been taken to stimulate the development of discipline construction to a higher level.
